PHILOSOPHY


Our guiding philosophy is firmly rooted in, and aims to leverage our great Indian culture. Thus, derived from our Sanskriti, the key tenets of our philosophy that enable us achieve our mission and desired outcomes are :

Key Tenets of our Philosophy

    KEY TENET

    Education should ultimately benefit society and spread happiness

    विद्या ददाति विनयं विनयाद् याति पात्रताम्। पात्रत्वाद्धनमाप्नोति धनाद्धर्मं ततः सुखम्॥

    Transliteration

    vidyA dadAti vinayaM, vinayAdyAti pAtratAM | pAtratvAddhanamApnoti, dhanAddharmaM tataH sukhaM ||

    Meaning

    True knowledge gives discipline (training, cultured mannerism, humbleness), from discipline comes worthiness, from worthiness one gets wealth, from wealth (one does) good deeds, from that (comes) joy.

    This also implies that education, knowledge, commitment, worthiness and wealth have to be used to serve society with good deeds and spread happiness.

    KEY TENET

    Education should lead to Truth, Light and Peace – Shanti Mantra

    असतोमा सद्गमय । तमसोमा ज्योतिर् गमय । मृत्योर्मामृतं गमय ॥ ॐ शान्ति शान्ति शान्तिः ।।

    Transliteration

    asato mā sadgamaya tamasomā jyotir gamaya mrityormāamritam gamaya Oṁ śhānti śhānti śhāntiḥ

    Meaning

    From ignorance, lead me to truth; From darkness, lead me to light; From death, lead me to immortality Om peace, peace, peace

    KEY TENET

    Education is the best wealth

    न चोरहार्यं न च राजहार्यं न भ्रातृभाज्यं न च भारकारि। व्यये कृते वर्धत एव नित्यं विद्याधनं सर्वधनप्रधानम् ॥

    Transliteration

    na chorahaaryaM na cha raajahaaryaM na bhraatRubhaajyaM na cha bhaarakaari | vyaye kRute vardhata eva nityaM vidyaadhanaM sarvadhanapradhaanam ||

    Meaning

    No one can steal it, not authority can snatch, Not divided in brothers, not heavy to carry, As you consume or spend, it increases; as you share, it expands, Education (Vidhya) is the best wealth among all the wealth anyone can have.

    KEY TENET

    Respect and Revere Parents, Teachers and God in order

    माता, पिता, गुरु, देवम्

    Transliteration

    Matha, Pitha, Guru, Deivam

    Meaning

    Translated word for word, it is, “Mother Father Teacher God”. The meaning of this adage is the greatest truth, and is the order in which one should offer reverence. The phrase is a basic tenet in existence from the time of the Vedas and beyond and represents the hierarchy in which one should respect these entities.

    KEY TENET

    Revere Teachers – Guru Mantra

    गुरु ब्रम्हा गुरु विष्णू गुरुः देवो महेश्वरा | गुरु शाक्षात परब्रम्हा तस्मै श्री गुरुवे नमः ||

    Transliteration

    Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwarah Guru Saakshaata Parabrahma Tasmai Shri Guruve Namah

    Meaning

    The Guru is Brahma (The Creator), the Guru is Vishnu (The Protector), the Guru Deva is Maheswara (Shiva The Destroyer), The Guru is Verily the Para-Brahman (Supreme Brahman); Salutations to that Guru. Knowledge will be gained only on Request and with respect.

    KEY TENET

    Hard work is an absolute necessity

    उद्यमेन हि सिध्यन्ति कार्याणि न मनोरथैः । न हि सुप्तस्य सिंहस्य प्रविशन्ति मुखे मृगाः ।।

    Transliteration

    udyamena hi sidhyanti kAryANi na manorathaiH | na hi suptasya siMhasya pravishanti mukhe mRigAH ||

    Meaning

    Work gets accomplished by effort, industry, not merely by wishing. Animal prey does not enter a sleeping lion's mouth; the lion has to hunt.

    KEY TENET

    Humility: An outstanding virtue

    विद्याविनयोपेता हरति न चेतांसि कस्य मनुजस्य । मणिकाञ्चनसंयोगो जनयति लोकस्य लोचनानंदम् ॥

    Transliteration

    vidyA vinayopetA harati na chetAmsi kasya manujasya । maNi kAnchana samyogo janayati lokasya lochana anandam ॥

    Meaning

    Who can restrain themselves from liking a well-educated man who is also humble? A gem embedded in gold is very pleasing for the eyes world over.

    KEY TENET

    Five virtues to be cultivated for success

    श्रद्धा वीर्यम् स्मृति: समाधि प्रज्ञापूर्वक इतरेषाम्

    Transliteration

    Shraddha, Viryam, Smriti, Samadhi and Pragnya purvaka itareshaam

    Meaning

    The five virtues of Shraddha (conviction or faith, belief), Viryam (inner strength), Smriti (retentive power and power to recollect), Samadhi (focus) and Pragnya (clear understanding) need to be cultivated to reach our goals. This is more so for us ordinary mortals as the journey is long, the obstacles are many and our resources are meagre.

    Face Global Opportunities and Challenges

    वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम

    Transliteration

    Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam

    Meaning

    The whole world is one. It is a social philosophy emanating from a spiritual understanding that the whole of humanity is made of one life energy. This leads to an understanding that as we are one, we have to equip ourselves to take advantage of global opportunities and be ready to face local and global challenges.
